Short Range Over Land Demonstration

This is a demonstration of how to use the Hammerhead radio direction finder to locate an emergency beacon. The demonstration is on land at a short distance (1000ft). Note that the range over land will be reduced do to the fact that the earth absorbs the signal, can block the signal (even little hills), or reflect the signal such as hills and buildings. Thus this demonstration is presented at short range.

Long Range Over Water Demonstration

This demonstration shows actual direction finding using the Hammerhead automatic direction finder at a distance of two and three miles to locate a beacon. At three miles the directional indicators may be confusing or non-operational. This video shows how to use the signal strength to verify that the directional indicator is correct, or use only the signal strength (without the directional indicators) to travel in the proper direction.
